If you already own a Garage Gator and only want the deck, that is the platform accessory rather than either of these — check what is included on the product page before ordering, because the difference is the motor.

Know the real capacity figure

The motor is rated at 220 lb of total lifted weight, and that total includes the platform itself. The 3 x 6 ft platform weighs roughly 50 lb, which leaves about 170 lb for cargo. This is specific to the platform lift — on hook, strap and sling models the attachment is light enough not to meaningfully reduce the rating. Plan your loads against 170 lb.

In practice, volume runs out before weight does. A 3 x 6 ft deck stacked with plastic totes will usually be full at well under 170 lb, so the platform footprint tends to be the real limit.

Loading well

Distribute weight evenly across the deck rather than concentrating it at one end, and keep the load low and stable rather than stacked tall. Secure anything that could shift — the platform travels vertically, but a load that settles unevenly on the way up is the thing to avoid.

Installation checks

Confirm the platform's travel clears the garage door and opener through their full range of motion, that the ceiling framing above the mounting points can carry the rated load, and that a power outlet is reachable. Measure the ceiling height and the space the raised platform will occupy before ordering.
