ProRack or slatwall?
They do different jobs and work well together.
Choose ProRack when you want heavy shelf storage off the floor with hanging space underneath: bins, coolers and camping gear on the shelf, cords, hoses and tools on the hooks.
Choose slatwall panels when you want the whole wall usable at any height for hooks, bins, baskets and shelves, or when the wall finish matters. Panels also cover a damaged or unfinished wall.
Plenty of garages use both: slatwall panels on the wall, with a ProRack mounted onto the slatwall or straight to the studs.
Lengths and capacity
ProRack comes in 4 ft, 8 ft and 12 ft, made up of one, two or three 4 ft sections. Each section measures 48" L x 28" H x 28" D. It is rated for 800 lb when mounted to studs and 350 lb when mounted to Proslat slatwall. Assembly is required.
Hooks and accessories
- S hooks (4 pack) — the general-purpose hook. Cords, hoses, bags, helmets, anything with a loop or handle. Made for ProRack only.
- Double side hooks (4 pack) — two arms per hook, for long items carried across a pair: ladders, shovels, lumber offcuts, folding chairs. Made for ProRack only.
- Tire storage option — brackets to carry a set of seasonal tires on the wall instead of stacked on the floor, where they take a parking space and mark the concrete.
- Ball organizer — a nylon mesh organizer with three compartments that holds up to 6 balls. Works on ProRack and on Proslat slatwall.
- Optional shelf — an add-on shelf for ProRack.
ProRack hooks clip into the rack's grid shelf and are not made for slatwall. Proslat's Probins and Big Mouth Basket are made for Proslat slatwall only, not ProRack. The ball organizer is the one accessory listed for both.
Common questions
How much weight will a ProRack hold?
800 lb when mounted into studs and 350 lb when mounted to Proslat slatwall. Do not mount it to drywall alone — find the studs.
What height should I mount it?
High enough that the rack and anything hanging from its hooks clear heads and car doors. Hold the longest item you plan to hang against the wall and mark where it ends before you drill.
Can I mount ProRack on a block or concrete wall?
Yes, with masonry fasteners rated for the load. Do not use plastic plugs.
Do ProRack accessories fit Proslat slatwall?
Not all of them. The S hooks and double side hooks are made for ProRack only and clip into its grid shelf. The ball organizer fits both ProRack and Proslat slatwall.
