Shipping policy
Free shipping on every order
We ship free to the contiguous United States on every order, with no minimum and no code needed. For Alaska, Hawaii or any address outside the contiguous US, please contact us for a quote before ordering.
Order confirmation and processing
You will receive an order confirmation email as soon as you order. We then confirm stock and availability with the manufacturer. If an item is backordered or unavailable we will contact you by email and release any pending authorization on your card.
Most in-stock orders ship within 2 to 7 business days. Safes and other made-to-order equipment frequently take longer, and we will confirm the expected ship date with you by email after your order is placed. We send tracking within 24 hours of your order leaving the warehouse. If you have not heard from us within six business days, please chase us at orders@garagetoolsstorage.com.
How your order ships
Smaller items ship by parcel carrier. Anything over roughly 125 lbs ships by LTL freight, palletized, on a truck with a liftgate. We ship from several warehouses, so an order containing products from different manufacturers may arrive in more than one delivery.
Freight carriers telephone you to arrange a delivery appointment. Someone aged 18 or over must be present to receive and sign for the delivery.
Freight delivery is curbside
The driver lowers your item from the truck to ground level at the end of your driveway, or at your dock for a commercial address. That is where the delivery ends.
Drivers will not bring items inside, take them up or down steps, move them to a particular room, unpack them, or install or anchor anything. Drivers are typically allotted around 30 minutes per stop, and time beyond that can attract detention charges from the carrier.
Liftgate and inside delivery
Liftgate service is included at no extra charge — it is what makes a residential freight delivery possible at all. We do not arrange inside delivery, but you are welcome to arrange it directly with the trucking company when they call to schedule. Terms and charges vary by carrier and address and are payable to them.
Plan these three things before ordering a freight item
- Help and equipment. Check the weight on the product page. Anything above a few hundred pounds needs an appliance dolly or pallet jack rated for the load and two to four people — or a local mover or safe installer, which we would recommend above roughly 600 lbs.
- A path that fits. Measure every doorway, turn and threshold against the item's exterior dimensions, which are listed in full on each product page.
- A floor that carries it. A concrete slab handles anything we sell. On a suspended timber floor, site the item against a load-bearing wall and across the joists rather than parallel to one.
Inspect before you sign
Once you sign a clean delivery receipt, the carrier's liability generally ends. Before signing:
- Walk the whole pallet. Look for punctures, crushed corners, torn wrap, a leaning load or a cracked pallet.
- If you see damage, write down specifically what you see on the delivery receipt — “dent to top left corner of crate”, “pallet cracked, safe leaning”.
- Do not write “subject to inspection” or “possible damage”. Carriers treat those phrases as a clean delivery and routinely use them to deny claims.
- Photograph the pallet before the truck leaves, damaged or not.
- If the damage is severe, you may refuse the delivery outright. Call us the same day so we can expect the return.
Reporting damage
Visible damage goes on the delivery receipt at the time of delivery. Concealed damage must be reported to us with photographs within 24 hours of delivery for safes and other freight items, or 72 hours for parcel items on our other lines. The window that applies to your item is stated on its product page.
