Collection: Wall Safes

Hayman's Wall Safes mount discreetly between wall studs so they sit flush behind a picture, mirror, or bookshelf instead of taking up floor space. This concealment is itself a layer of security: a safe a burglar never finds cannot be forced open. Compact interiors are sized for cash, jewelry, small firearms, and important documents, making these a practical choice for apartments, condos, and any home or office where discretion matters as much as the lock.

How a wall safe earns its place

A wall safe trades interior volume for something a floor safe cannot offer: it disappears. Recessed between studs and covered by a picture, a mirror or a hanging cabinet, it presents nothing for an intruder to find — and a safe that is never found is never attacked. For the typical burglary, which lasts a few minutes and works through obvious hiding places, concealment is a more effective defense than steel thickness.

Fitting between the studs

Every Minuteman model is designed to recess between studs on standard 16-inch centers. The installation is straightforward: locate two adjacent studs, cut the drywall between them, slide the safe body into the cavity, and lag-bolt it through the side flanges into the timber. No concrete work and no structural alteration.

Before ordering, check three things. Confirm your studs really are on 16-inch centers — older houses vary. Verify the wall cavity depth; a standard 2x4 interior wall gives about 3-1/2 inches, and a deeper safe needs a 2x6 wall. And check for wiring, plumbing or ductwork in the bay you intend to use, which is the single most common reason an installation has to move one bay across.

Choosing a model

The WS7-E uses an electronic keypad for fast PIN access, with the code held in non-volatile memory so a flat battery does not erase it. The WS6-C uses a three-wheel mechanical combination dial — no batteries at all, nothing to replace, unaffected by a power cut. The MM-4814-E is the outlier: at 48 inches tall it is built to take rifles and shotguns upright inside the wall cavity, which makes it a genuinely discreet long-gun option where a floor-standing gun safe would be conspicuous.

What a wall safe is not for

Wall safes are burglary-resistant, not fire rated. Their protection comes from concealment and steel, and a stud cavity offers no thermal barrier. Documents and records that must survive a fire belong in a fire and burglary safe. Many households run both — a wall safe for cash, jewelry and a handgun kept close at hand, and a fire safe for deeds, wills and backups.

If concealment is the priority but you want more capacity, an in-floor safe set into concrete offers the same hidden advantage with a much larger interior.

Frequently Asked Questions

How big is the Minuteman MM-4814-E?

It measures 48" high x 14" wide x 4" deep on the outside, and has adjustable, removable shelving and long-gun mounting options inside.

Can the electronic wall safes be opened if the keypad stops working?

Yes. The WS7-E and MM-4814-E both have key backup for emergency entry in addition to programmable user codes.

How are the doors on these wall safes hung?

All three use concealed internal hinges, so there are no exposed hinge points to pry or cut, and they have a solid steel plate door with a powder-coat finish.

What warranty covers the Minuteman wall safes?

They carry a 1-year parts and labor warranty against manufacturer defects.
