A Garage Gator hoists gear to the ceiling at the push of a button, turning the least-used space in a garage into the most convenient. Every lift in the line is built by Proslat around the same motor; what changes between models is the attachment — hooks, straps, slings, cradles or a platform — and that is what makes a lift right for a given load.

Shop by what you are lifting

• Bikes — the GG8220 hook-and-strap lift, the Compact 4 Bike Lift, and the eight-bicycle Storage Elevator. The most common starting point, and the one that frees the most floor space per dollar.
• Kayaks, canoes and paddle boards — single, dual and four-boat systems from 125 lb to 275 lb, including padded paddle-sport slings. Hull support matters here as much as capacity: slings spread the load along the hull rather than pressing on two points, which is what prevents a plastic kayak taking a set over a long off-season.
• Cargo and bulk storage — the motor paired with a 3 x 6 ft platform for bins, totes and seasonal gear; anything that will not hang from a hook.

One capacity figure worth understanding

The GG8220 motor is rated at 220 lb total lifted weight, and that figure includes the attachment, not just your cargo. For hooks, straps and slings the attachment weighs little enough not to matter. The Platform Lift is the exception: its 3 x 6 ft deck weighs roughly 50 lb on its own, leaving about 170 lb of usable cargo capacity. Plan against 170 lb on that model. Common questions

Is a Garage Gator the same as a garage elevator?

No. A Garage Gator suspends a load against the garage ceiling. A garage or attic elevator carries a load up through the ceiling into attic storage. Different machines for different problems — see the full comparison if you are unsure which you need.

Can one lift store different things through the year?

Yes, and it is the most underused feature of the line. Swapping the attachment converts a lift between hooks, slings and a platform, so the same motor takes boats in summer and bins over winter. Confirm the accessory matches your model first.

What is the most common installation surprise?

The garage door. Check that the raised load clears both the door panels and the opener rail through their full travel, with the door fully open — not just where it sits when closed. After that: ceiling framing strong enough for the rated load, and a power outlet within reach.

Can I install it myself?

Most owners do, with a second person for lifting the unit into position. The mounting has to land in solid framing, so locating joists or trusses accurately is the part worth taking time over.

Does it need a dedicated circuit?

No — a standard outlet is sufficient. Check the product page for the cord length and plan the mounting position so the cord reaches without an extension.
