Proslat PROCORE+ Decorative PVC Slatwall

Proslat PROCORE+ puts a decorative face on the heavier PROCORE core, so the wall reads as a finished surface instead of a plain garage panel while still taking the same hooks, baskets and shelves. It suits a garage you actually look at — a gym bay, a car bay with the door open, a workshop that doubles as a hobby room.

Choosing a finish

Gray Wood is a wood-grain face that warms the room and reads more like an interior wall than a garage one. It pairs easily with white or gray cabinets and is the most forgiving of the three if the rest of the garage is still unfinished. Carbon Fiber is a dark woven texture with an automotive look. It hides fingerprints and scuffs better than the other two faces, but it absorbs light, so if the garage has one small window you will want more fixtures over the bench. Silver Gray Carbon Fiber keeps the same weave in a much lighter tone: it holds the automotive look while keeping the wall bright, and it shows less dust sitting in the grooves than the dark carbon fiber does.

One practical note on all three. The decorative face is the part you are paying extra for, so put PROCORE+ on the wall people see and use plain PVC or PROCORE behind the mower, the bin store or anywhere things get banged into the wall.

How much do I need?

Every PROCORE+ panel is 8 ft x 4 ft and covers 32 sq ft. Measure the wall width, then multiply by the height you actually want covered. The useful band is roughly waist height to just above your reach, about 4 to 6 ft, not floor to ceiling. Subtract windows, the man door and the strip the garage door track runs through. Add about 10 percent for cuts and offcuts you cannot reuse, then pick the pack that covers the total: a 2 pack is 64 sq ft, a 3 pack is 96 sq ft, a 4 pack is 128 sq ft.

Installation

Screws must reach the studs, not just the drywall. Find and mark the studs before you start, because drywall anchors on their own will pull out once the panel is loaded. Get the first row level and check it with a long level or a laser line before you drive the second screw — every panel above follows that first line, and a small error at the bottom shows as a slope by the time you reach the top. Panels go over existing drywall, straight onto bare studs, or onto block and concrete using masonry fasteners with furring strips. These panels are heavier than plain PVC, so line up a second pair of hands for the first row.

Common questions

How much weight will it hold?

The PROCORE core takes more weight per hook than plain PVC, but the real limit is still the fixings and the framing behind the panel. Screwed into sound studs it holds far more than most garage walls ever carry. Miss the studs and the panel comes off the wall regardless of the core.

Is it waterproof?

The panel is PVC through and through, so damp, rot and mould are not a problem in an unheated garage. The decorative face is a laminate, so wipe it with a damp cloth and mild soap rather than scouring it or using solvent.

What is the difference between PVC, PROCORE and PROCORE+?

PVC is the waterproof and most affordable panel. PROCORE has a heavier core that carries more weight per hook. PROCORE+ is PROCORE construction with a decorative face on top.

Can I mix this with another Proslat line?

Yes. The groove profile is shared across the lines, so hooks, baskets and shelves move between PVC, PROCORE and PROCORE+, and you can run PROCORE+ on the visible wall with plain PVC elsewhere.

Can I paint it?

No. The face is applied at the factory and paint over it defeats the reason for buying it, so choose the finish you want to keep. If you want the seams and edges tidied, use trim instead.
