Proslat PROCORE is the heavier-core panel in the Proslat range. It is the same 8 ft x 4 ft PVC panel with the same groove profile as standard Proslat slatwall, built on a denser core that carries more weight per hook. It suits the wall that takes the heavy end of a garage — bikes, ladders, wheelbarrows, long timber, folding tables — rather than a wall of light hand tools.

Choosing a colour

White throws light back into the room and makes a garage with one small window noticeably brighter, which matters if the bench sits against that wall. It also shows less dust settling in the grooves than a darker panel, at the cost of showing a scuffed handprint sooner. Gray is the more forgiving of the two day to day: it hides tyre marks, dirt carried in off the driveway and the rub of things being lifted on and off the wall, and it is the easier match if you already have a gray epoxy floor or gray cabinets. Neither colour changes how much the panel holds.

How much do I need?

Each PROCORE panel is 8 ft x 4 ft and covers 32 sq ft. Measure the wall width and multiply it by the height you actually want covered. The useful band is roughly waist height to just above your reach, about 4 to 6 ft, not floor to ceiling. Subtract windows, the man door and the strip the garage door track runs through. Add about 10 percent for cuts and offcuts you cannot reuse, then pick the pack that covers the total: the 3 pack is 96 sq ft and the 4 pack is 128 sq ft. PROCORE is sold in those two pack sizes only, so if you need less than 96 sq ft, look at the standard PVC panels, which come as single panels and 2 packs.

Installation

Screws must reach the studs behind the wall, not just the drywall. Find and mark the studs before you start, because drywall anchors on their own will pull out under a loaded panel — and PROCORE is normally bought precisely because the load is heavy. Get the first row level and check it with a long level or a laser line before you drive the second screw; every panel above follows that first line, and a small error at the bottom shows as a slope by the time you reach the top. Panels go over existing drywall, straight onto bare studs, or onto block and concrete with masonry fasteners and furring strips so the screws have something to bite into. The panels are heavier than plain PVC, so have a second person hold the first row.

Common questions

How much weight will it hold?

PROCORE takes more weight per hook than standard PVC, but the limit in a real garage is the fixings and the framing, not the panel. Into sound studs at the recommended screw spacing it carries more than most walls ever see. Skip studs or use drywall anchors and the wall fails long before the panel does.

Is it waterproof?

Yes. It is PVC through and through, so it does not absorb water, rot or feed mould. It is fine on an unheated garage wall or a damp basement wall, and you can wash it down.

What is the difference between PVC, PROCORE and PROCORE+?

PVC is the waterproof and most affordable panel. PROCORE has the heavier core and takes more weight per hook. PROCORE+ is PROCORE construction with a decorative face on top, for a wall you want to look at.

Can I mix this with another Proslat line?

Yes. The groove profile is shared, so hooks, baskets and shelves move between PVC, PROCORE and PROCORE+ panels. Running PROCORE on the heavy-load wall and plain PVC elsewhere is a common way to spend the budget.

Do I need trim?

Trim is optional but it is what makes the wall look finished, capping the cut edges at the top, bottom, corners and around openings. See trim and finishing.
